You clicked. And the social media analytics mavens took note. The most popular posts of the year here at My Son Wears Heels were headlined with words I see remaining big news in 2016. Public awareness and understanding of what it means to be LGBTQ will continue to grow. The educated won’t tolerate homophobes, certainly not at the dinner table. And those who identify outside the traditionally accepted ideas of male and female, like articulate genderqueer activist Jacob Tobia, will help bridge gaps of knowledge and broaden national discourse.
Before we scroll past 2015, I hope you’ll click on any of the year’s top posts that you didn’t get a chance to see.
1. Getting through the holidays with homophobic relatives.
2. My nonbinary kid’s awesome dad.
3. Gender + discombobulation = Panti Bliss
4. My queer kid’s loving aunt remembered.
5. The (genderqueer) kid I never expected.

Happy New Year to all in the blogosphere and beyond. I know that in Russia, this blog is highly popular and not just with the Yaks.
Times are changing not only for LGBQT people but for all of us who are, for some reason, on this planet at this time so let’s make it the best. In the old country there was no best so our ancestors left and made it the best elsewhere. The only thing that never changes is change!
So, keep changing and let’s all make 2016 the best.
Thanks so much, Rickshala, for your weekly doses of positivity, optimism, and your very special brand of humor. 🙂 I’m so glad you’re leading the sea change. And the yak herd. Cheers and love to you for the best year in 2016. xo
Thanks for the thanks. Coming from our family we had to find humor or else!
The Yaks already were funny and the sea change brought wonderful waves of change to our ship sailing to freedom and happiness.
Happy New Year, Julie and beyond! Thank you for continuing to enlighten me with your weekly blog posts! I always look forward to them – it’s that little piece of you served up in my inbox and I cherish it so! Love to you always~~~Renee
A very happy 2016 to you, Renee! It’s awesome moms like you who inspire me everyday. I hope our paths can cross again in the New Year. I can hardly believe it will have been 3 years since Salon LGBTQ in Atlanta. Maybe our next meet-up will be a bookstore near you. 😉 Jxo
